See below or visit : http://www.imperial.nhs.uk/aboutus/news/news_044026 Families invited to puppet theatre event for advice on managing minor illness and injuries in children - 24 April 2014 Families in north-west London are invited to two free special events called Fix Freddie! involving a new puppet show and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust’s child health specialists for advice on how to manage minor illness and injury in children. The events are an opportunity for children, young people, families and carers to see a fun new piece of professional puppet theatre. The 30-minute show, created by theatre company PuppetSoup with help from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and the Trust’s paediatricians, explores what accident-prone Freddie should do to treat his injuries through a variety of puppet theatre suitable for all children and adults alike. With opportunities to talk before and after the shows with local child health experts including paediatricians, nurses, play specialists, GPs, health visitors and pharmacists, the Fix Freddie! events aim to improve families’ confidence in managing their children’s illnesses and injuries, raise awareness about local health services and reduce A&E attendances. The two events are taking place at: • Friday 25th April 2-5pm at Beethoven Centre, Third Avenue, QueensPark, W10 4JL. Show times: 2.30pm and 4pm. • Saturday 26th April at Marylebone Health Centre, Crypt of Marylebone Church, 17 Marylebone Road, NW1 5LT. Show times:11am, 12.30pm, 2pm. Dr Francesca Cleugh, a locum consultant in paediatric emergency medicine at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “We hope many local families and their children come along to the Fix Freddie! events. These are great opportunities for parents and carers to get advice on keeping their children healthy and managing common illnesses and injuries, and ask questions to a range of local health professionals, while also having plenty of puppetry fun.” The Fix Freddie! show was created by PuppetSoup who wanted to help positively impact child healthcare. The events are part of a pilot project, Connecting Care for Children, a partnership across paediatric services from Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and GP services supported by North West London Commissioning Support Unit. Connecting Care for Children aims to help clinicians work with young people and their families to improve NHS services in the area.
