‘Arth’ means bear in Welsh.
PuppetSoup are a bilingual visual theatre company utilising multiple languages and visual theatre in our productions.
Today, supported by the Arts Council of Wales, Creu Cymru and Abergavenny Borough Theatre we started the Research and Development for our new show ‘Arthur’.
We are deeply inspired by the concept of Arthur as a bear, as a king and as a Welsh character.
Over the coming weeks we will be developing aesthetics, linguistics and a concept for the show and delving more deeply into who and what Arthur was…
Our team on this project are:
Fagner Gastaldon – founder of PuppetSoup, director and puppet maker. originally from Brazil settled in Wales.
Ana Maio – Designer, artist, performer and puppet maker
Naomi Doyle – Performer, Welsh speaker, actress and collaborator
Tamar Williams – Performer, storyteller, Welsh speaker and collaborator
Daniel Balfour – Sound designer, collaborator
Chris Lyon – Technician, technical support, lighting design
Richard Semmens – Production, management, technology
Cass Gastaldon – Production, management
We will also be inviting the public and professionals to performances and offering workshops in Llandbedr Primary School, Llanfoist Primary School and Abergavenny community Centre during this research and development process.
We hope ‘Arthur’ will be ready for theatre, rural, community and school touring in Autum 2016.
