About Puppetry workshops

Puppetry is an artform that encompasses all other artforms and can help young people develop their creativity, dexterity, oracy, literacy and decision making abilities. Recycled puppet making is a fun and enriching experience for the participants that also teaches young people about the value of their recycled items.

Our recycled puppet making workshops can be tailored to fit in with your requirements or curriculum so let us know what your group of children are learning about at the moment and we will ensure the workshop meets your learning outcomes!  Many schools have had the recycled puppet making workshops to compliment learning about recycling and the environment or as art projects to compliment the curriculum.

Our recycled puppet workshops make a great end of term activity for your school as they are fun, memorable and educational and they are a fantastic holiday activity or event for a special occasion.

About the shadow puppet making workshop

We ask that participants collect their dry recycling such as cardboard, newspapers, plastic bottles and plastic containers in advance of the class. PuppetSoup can then provide all the additional materials required for making recycled puppets. Our recycled puppet making courses can last from one hour to a whole day, depending on how many children are participating and whether you would like them to perform a show at the end of the day.

The shadow puppet making class can be taken either face to face or online.

For online courses it is recommended that all participants are old enough to be able to safely use scissors or to have suitable supervision available.

If participants are unable to use scissors but require an online course it is possible that we can post or recommend some helpful items for making recycled puppets. (Posting subject to being UK based).

We do ask that you provide felt tip pens, scissors and some other very basic items in addition to the recycling for this workshop and to take the workshop online you will be given a small list of items to collect.

All of our recycled puppet making workshops are completely designed around your requirements so the best thing is to email us with your class or group numbers, age group and budget and we can help arrange the workshop for you.
