PuppetSoup community projects, partnerships and collaborations.

PuppetSoup make and deliver projects with organisations and community groups that have a positive impact on the people involved and aim to further our mission of 'Puppetry. For Everyone'.

Our projects are delivered by a multi-award winning, talented and friendly team who are enthusiastic and hard working and understand that puppetry is a transformative artform that encompasses all other art forms..

Below is a selection of some of the projects we have founded and been involved with, working with brilliant organisations such as the NHS, schools, the RSPB, Gwent Police, The Arts Council Wales, Monmouthshire County Council, The Unicorn Theatre in London, Black Dog Theatre and the Scouts.

We are always open to making and founding new partnerships to create projects that benefit the community and make puppetry accessible for everyone.

Teatro Lambe Lambe at
Chester Zoo.

PuppetSoup were delighted to have been commissioned by Chester Zoo to make two new pieces of Teatro Lambe Lambe Puppet Theatre for the special season of activities and storytelling at the Zoo!

PuppetSoup Teaching at California State University

PuppetSoup were honoured to have been asked to teach at the California State University San Bernardino (CSUSB) in the USA by world leading puppetry education specialist, Professor Johnna Smith.

Hate Crime Awareness Show Touring Schools.

PuppetSoup were thrilled to take our special show, ‘Cat Town’, about Hate Crime Awareness, diversity, equality and inclusion on tour across Wales in Spring 2022.

Puppetry for Wellbeing online workshops during the pandemic.

PuppetSoup created a ‘Puppetry for Wellbeing’ online adult meeting group and teamed up with Alfie James productions, Designer Jacob Anderson, Women Unscene and Black Dog Theatre Company to deliver this lovely online project.

Teatro Lambe Lambe Puppetry Courses and Scholarships.

Partnering with the National Capital Puppetry Guild in the USA to offer scholarships and engage people with the miniature form of Brazilian puppet theatre known at ‘Teatro Lambe Lambe’.

Hate Crime Awareness Puppet Packs and Virtual lessons during Covid.

In October and November 2020 PuppetSoup developed a special set of puppet making packs and virtual online workshops for schools in Monmouthshire and Newport to help the Hate Crime Awareness campaign.

PuppetSoup Partnerships - working with Schools to create shows

PuppetSoup have worked with many schools to develop our shows.

Young people benefit from connecting with artists and understanding the process of theatre production, and the artists benefit from feedback from a younger audience and the fresh new ideas that young people can bring to theatre.

Working with Gwent Police and Monmouthshire County Council to create 'Cat Town' a show about difference.

PuppetSoup were commissioned to develop, devise, make and perform a show for primary schools for Hate Crime Awareness Week.

The result was a powerful show that discusses difference in an understandable way for ages 7-13years.

Collaborating with the NHS to Develop Award winning 'Fix Freddie'

PuppetSoup approached doctors at St Mary's Hospital London to see how we could collaborate to develop work that would be of benefit to the NHS. The result was the show 'Fix Freddie!' that went on to win the Liz Molyneaux prize for work within paediatric medicine.

Proudly representing the Nation of Wales in Edinburgh

Our show 'Land of the Dragon - Gwlad y Ddraig' was selected to proudly represent the nation of Wales at Edinburgh Festival.

Project with Fusion for The Welsh Government

PuppetSoup were awarded a grant by Fusion during the Covid19 crisis to create the 'My Friend at Home' online project and puppetry packs for key worker and vulnerable children.

Providing workshops for The Unicorn Children's Theatre, London

PuppetSoup are proud to have provided annual workshops for the Unicorn Children's Theatre in London including for their 'Play in a Week' programme.

Developing the show 'The Memory Keeper' for the RSPB

PuppetSoup worked with the RSPB to develop a visual show for the 20th anniversary of the North Wales RSPB site in Conwy.

Black Dog Theatre Company workshops for adults working for better mental health

Black Dog Theatre Company work towards better mental health for their members and utilise puppetry in their performance work. PuppetSoup are happy to continue providing workshops and partnership with this brilliant company.

Working with the Irish Traveller Community

Kindly supported by Kensington Council in London, PuppetSoup worked for two years inside the Irish Traveller site in Kensington. We developed bi-weekly workshops with the children and young people in an after school puppet club.

Gwanwyn Project for people of older ages

A two weekend project offering the more mature members of The Vale of Gwyrne an insight in to puppets and puppet making and a chance to come together in their local village hall.

Projects in rural communities

PuppetSoup are from rural areas and believe access to the arts should not be affected by where you live. We are lucky enough to regularly tour to rural locations and develop projects within rural communities in Wales and the UK.

Scouts workshops in the UK and Brazil

PuppetSoup have given puppet making and performance workshops for groups of Scouts in both the UK and Brazil.

Arthur the Bear King - developing a show for the Arts Council Wales

We were offered a development grant by the Arts Council Wales to make a new bilingual piece of touring theatre.

Gwent Wildlife Trust

Performing at Gwent Wildlife Trust's special event and providing puppet making workshops through the day.

Weekly Puppetry Classes for rural young people

PuppetSoup offer weekly after school classes to children in all aspects of puppet making, theatre production and puppetry performance ensuring that young people in rural areas have the same access to the arts as those in urban settings.

Working with The Church in Wales

PuppetSoup have been happy to work alongside The Church in Wales through numerous projects.

The Church in Wales has kindly offered space, support and audiences for many of PuppetSoup's productions and projects.

Developing our online Puppetry School - making 'Puppetry. For Everyone'.

PuppetSoup are happy to be supported by the Arts Council Wales to develop our new PuppetryCourses.com website which delivers both face to face and online puppetry courses for adults and children.
